Despite his distaste for clones, the Vice Admiral continued to use them to train newly enlisted TK troopers. In-universe, Imperial Vice Admiral Rampart (Noshir Dalal) spearheaded this initiative, dubbing the enterprise " Project War Mantle." Rampart believed that enlisted troopers were superior to the clones that the Republic employed during the Clone Wars. Each episode depicts different aspects of the Republic's transition into the Empire, most notably the obsolescence of clone troopers in favor of enlisted "TK" troopers (who would go on to evolve into the stormtroopers seen in the original trilogy). The Bad Batch, which completed its first season on Disney+ last week, has steadily been fleshing out the interim period between the events of Revenge of the Sithand A New Hope. New concept art for Star Wars: The Bad Batch implies that the first iteration of Imperial Royal Guards may have been clone commandos. Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch episode 16, "Kamino Lost."
